Disorders of Hip
Several conditions can affect the hip joint, leading to pain, stiffness, and difficulty in movement. Some common hip disorders include:
- Osteoarthritis – Degenerative condition causing joint cartilage wear and tear.
- Rheumatoid arthritis – Autoimmune disease leading to chronic inflammation of the hip.
- Avascular necrosis – Loss of blood supply to the femoral head leading to bone collapse.
- Hip fractures – Common in elderly due to osteoporosis or falls.
- Hip labral tear – Injury to the cartilage rim of the acetabulum.
- Bursitis and tendonitis – Inflammation of soft tissues around the hip.
- Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) – Abnormal formation of the hip joint from birth.
